Preserving the Spirit

Laughter | Legacy | Fellowship

For over a century, the Friars Club served as the soul of American humor—a private sanctuary where legends found kinship and a stage unlike any other. But the true essence of the Friars was never defined by a physical address; it was a feeling, a sharp-witted camaraderie, and an uncompromising standard of excellence. While the doors at 57 East 55th Street have moved into history, the spirit nurtured within those walls remains entirely vital. We do not seek to replicate what was; we honor what it meant to us all.

The Story of Our Society

When the doors of the historic Friars Club closed, a century-old physical space disappeared, but the vibrant, close-knit spirit of its people never faded. The Friars have always been a deeply special, highly curated group of entertainment and business professionals, along with dedicated patrons of the arts. They are a community that deeply values their rare down-time, mutual camaraderie, and absolute discretion when it comes to privacy.

Missing the warmth and wit of those irreplaceable gatherings, a group of former Friars decided to band together. Out of that shared bond, the New York Friar Society was born—not as a physical building, but as an entirely independent, dynamic, nomadic collective. Strongly inspired by the original camaraderie of the Friars, we have come together to forge our own path forward through networking, high-end social outings, and exclusive community events.

A Culture of Full Support

At the very core of our society is a deep commitment to one another’s craft. The Friars have always been fiercely supportive of each other's art and talent. We don't just network—we show up. When one of our members steps into the spotlight, launches a project, or takes the stage, our collective comes out in full force to champion their work. We believe that celebrating each other’s successes and uplifting our peers' talents is what transforms a professional network into a true, lifelong fellowship.

We are a digital-first, independent collective built by those who lived the club's values. By operating as a "building-free" organization, we focus 100% of our resources on the member experience rather than physical overhead. This modern, decentralized approach ensures a level of transparency and stewardship that honors the commitment of our Fellows while maintaining the prestige of our golden era.

Through curated pop-up events at storied New York landmarks, we gather in a way that is flexible, modern, and entirely focused on human connection.
