Laughter in the Houses: A Mother’s Day to Remember

This year, the Sunshine Project brought a different kind of light to East Harlem. At the Johnson Houses, we celebrated Mother’s Day with a curated comedy showcase that proved laughter is the most sophisticated form of fellowship.

We were honored to feature the incomparable Bob Greenberg and the radiant Wanda Hansome, who brought their world-class wit and boundless energy to a room full of the neighborhood’s most deserving women.

The Highlights:

  • Bob Greenberg’s legendary timing and "larger-than-life" presence had the room in stitches from the first beat.

  • Wanda Hansome delivered a set that was as sharp as it was soulful, connecting deeply with every mother in the audience.

Beyond the jokes, this was about Theater Equity—bringing the same caliber of performance found in Manhattan’s elite showrooms directly into the heart of the community.

Celebrating the enduring spirit and cherished legacy of the New York Friars Club by fostering camaraderie and wit.
